Districts Die in Darkness
Early voting is now underway in the SBISD Trustee elections, but the story of this election so far is the huge number of Mail-In ballots the district is receiving, not what is happening at the physical polling places themselves.
The mailbox at SBISD headquarters has received more ballots returned by mail than the combined total of all votes cast at the five physical polling locations throughout the district. This even though the polling locations are "breaking records" for physical voter turnout.
Over 925 mail-in ballots have already been received by the district, according to statistics published on SBISD's website yesterday. This compares to just 60 mail-in ballots received in the entirety of the 2021 SBISD election. This marks a 15-fold increase in mail-in voting in 2022 already, and voting is just getting started.
With almost two weeks left for mail-in ballots to flood into the count rooms, it seems conceivable that thousands of mail-in votes could be cast in this election. Again, only 60 votes were cast by mail in 2021.
Why is such a tidal wave of mail-in ballots crashing down upon the district? We don't have a definitive answer, we can only speculate.
There is newly formed and well-funded political action committee linked to George Soros operating in SBISD. This entity, Families 4 Every Child PAC, lists voter education and participation among its objectives.
It is certainly possible that this PAC has chosen to focus on a mail-ballot strategy, and that is driving the highly anomalous mail-in ballot numbers.
Alternatively, this election has certainly been well publicized. There are many signs for candidates posted all over the district. Physical voter turnout at actual polling locations is higher than last year, but it isn't up fifteen times like mail-in voting. Physical voting hasn't even doubled.
Given this direct comparable in the physical world, we cannot attribute the increase in mail voting solely to publicity.
Regardless of whether George Soros or the tooth fairy is driving the mass of mail-in voting, it is becoming crystal clear that each of our readers must get out to vote in this election if they want to keep our wonderful district governed effectively.
